How much does it cost to build a house? The answer to this question is, it depends. It really does! There is no “one price fits all”. We could build two homes, with the exact same floor plan, but drastically different price tags. Why?
Because, there are hundreds of material options, each ranging from basic to high quality. The materials that are selected affect the price. For example, one could choose laminate countertops, solid surface, or natural stone. All of these options vary in price. Some people are able to go with the basic materials, others want and can afford luxury. A lot of people are somewhere in between.
Some builders work based on a fixed price, some provide a price per square foot, others interview you, as much as you interview them, to understand what you want. Then, they provide you with an estimate, that includes the materials you want to see in your home. When you are comparing builders, make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Ask the fixed price and price per square foot builders, exactly what materials you are getting for their price.
